From Wee Waa to Canada: Zac Tomlinson is making his mark

Whether supporting his community, forging a successful career or promoting Australian agriculture; Zac Tomlinson has got it covered.

One of the advantages of working in rural NSW is meeting and forming friendships with quality people.  One such person is Zac Tomlinson.

With a long family history in community service and agriculture, it is no surprise that Zac is kicking goals in both fields.

Zac hails from the Wee Waa region of northern NSW and recently received a scholarship to attend the Commonwealth Agriculture Conference to be held in Edmonton, Canada.  The fully-sponsored scholarship was awarded by the Agricultural Societies Council of NSW and recognises Zac’s contribution to the Narrabri Show Society and agriculture in north-western NSW.

“It will be an honour to attend this prestigious conference and learn about worldwide perspectives on productivity and sustainability in agriculture” said Zac.

As Acquisition Manager and head buyer for NSW and Queensland for AGT Foods Australia, Zac will provide worthwhile Australian input as a delegate to the conference.

“I am passionate about my involvement in an industry which holds the objective to produce, handle and provide safe, top quality food to the world” he added.

Zac grew up on a broadacre cropping and Merino sheep farm.  The enterprise focuses on modern management practices and Zac incorporates his marketing expertise into the business.

As the Chief Horse Steward at Narrabri Show, Zac is continuing the family tradition.  His grandmother has been Chief Steward of the Cooking and Preserves section of the show for many years.

“I’ve been lucky enough to compete at shows across NSW and Queensland and it’s good to be able to give something back.”

Zac is being modest.  He is an extremely successful equestrian competitor and recently qualified to compete at the 2019 Show Horse Nationals.

We hope that Zac enjoys the conference in Canada and wish him well as he makes a positive contribution to Australian agriculture and his community.
